Collingwood president Eddie McGuire apologised on Tuesday for failing to address systemic racism at the club revealed in a report and announced he was stepping down immediately amid a furore about his initial response to the findings.

“The CFC Do Better report is an acknowledgement that our club, our game and our country have not always got it right, and for our part we have always sought to do our best, but that hasn’t always been good enough, and for that we are sorry,” Mr McGuire told a news conference.
