Collingwood Football Club president Eddie McGuire says the club's remarkable on-field resurgence has been boosted by important changes to its business model, after AFL policies helped "blow up" its finances.

McGuire, who will mark his 20th year as president next month, will on Saturday watch his club play in the AFL grand final against the West Coast Eagles.
