The Olympics kick off on Wednesday morning when the Aussie Spirit women’s softball team takes on Japan in the opening match of the tournament in the empty, 14,300-seat Fukushima Azuma Baseball Stadium.
The match that pits 8th-ranked Australia against powerhouse second-ranking Japan at 9am local time is the first game of the tournament and precedes Friday’s official opening ceremony by two days.
