KFC eaters are cutting back as economy slows

Collins Foods, which operates 279 KFC outlets in Australia, says customers have been cutting back on spending in May and June, with same-store sales down 0.8 per cent compared with the same time a year ago.

Interim chief executive Kevin Perkins said he expects the tougher trading conditions to continue well into 2025 in Australia as households battle higher mortgage rates, rents and energy bills, and general inflation in the economy.
