Ginger & Smart’s future uncertain after private equity fire sale

The future of Ginger & Smart, one of the country’s best-known luxury women’s fashion designers, is uncertain after its private equity owners sold the business and the brand for a token amount.

Alquemie Group has also sold the remaining assets of SurfStitch, online surf and skate wear retailer that soared to a $500 million valuation a decade ago, to the same undisclosed buyer that purchased Ginger & Smart.
