Gerry Harvey says angrier shoppers are a bad sign for retailers

Retailers riding high on better-than-expected December and Boxing Day sales have been told to prepare for a tough slog in the first months of 2024, as consumers put a lid on spending.

The Australian Retailers Association is expecting seasonal sales to rise 1.6 per cent on last year to $24 billion and a record for December.
