Amazon gains on Prime Day shopping event

Online retailing giant Amazon just finished its biggest shopping event globally, and Prime Day in Australia showed the company is gaining ground in the battle for online dominance.

Amazon first launched in Australia in 2017 but has not dramatically changed the landscape as anticipated. However, with its fifth year of Prime Day, which offers discounts to members and took place over July 12-13, consumers are looking to the platform for categories like pantry, health and person care, toys and electronics.
