This uncertain and tiring year has, unfortunately, allowed professionals to deploy a seemingly unrelenting level of doublespeak and hyperbole that was simultaneously confusing and upsetting.

The main theme, always a favourite of advisers, has been change and how change is happening faster than ever – an idea both appealing and vague. This has led to the warning that we all have to learn how to live with The New Normal, then it was The Next Normal and finally, in a nihilist twist to it all, The No Normal.
