Big four consulting firm PwC has called for an inquiry into the types of additional services an auditor can provide audit clients, and a separate examination of the role of auditing.

The firm, which has the largest statutory audit practice of the big four, also wants the corporate regulator to enhance the way it reports on its long-running audit inspection program to incorporate a guide on the severity of findings.
