Maurice Blackburn losses mount amid class action failures

Plaintiff law firm Maurice Blackburn breached loan agreements last year after it suffered defeats in major litigation, as a self-funded class action model begins to cause financial pressure internally and from opponents.

The failed litigation helped push the firm to a $5.4 million loss for 2023-24 and forced it to renegotiate terms and defer payments to lenders on millions of dollars in loans.
