Judge chides critics who want to ‘regulate class actions out of existence’

The newest member of the High Court, Justice Robert Beech-Jones, has questioned those seeking to “regulate class actions out of existence” at a forum hosted by industry giant Maurice Blackburn.

Justice Beech-Jones, who joined the High Court in November 2023, also slated the “latest musings of the financial press” in remarks on the public debate over class actions and gave qualified support to competition between courts.
