Uranium miners soar on US plan to wean off Russian supply

Listed Australian uranium miners soared more than 10 per cent on a report the Biden administration is trying to win support for a $US4.3 billion ($6 billion) plan to buy enriched uranium directly from domestic producers, tightening a supply deficit facing Western countries.

As governments increasingly mull the benefits of uranium amid the global energy crisis following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Bloomberg reported that US Energy Department officials have met with key congressional staff to progress the plan.
