Regis in $192m writedown after Plibersek call sinks gold mine

Regis Resources has written down the value of its gold and silver project in NSW by $192 million after mining plans were scuppered by Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek on Indigenous cultural heritage grounds.
The company also withdrew its definite feasibility study on the proposed McPhillamys mine and scrapped the 1.89 million-ounce ore reserve previously attached to the near-$1 billion project.
