Queensland mining industry’s ‘fatality cycle’ continues

Queensland’s resources sector said it was getting better at making mines safer, despite the death of two men at MMG’s underground zinc mine, near Mt Isa, on Wednesday.
While mining companies have spruiked a “safety first” culture for the past few decades, the deaths have again focused attention on the $90 billion industry’s poor record.
