Protests mar mining talkfest where rival tribes aren't listening

The path of least resistance for people attending Melbourne's International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) this week was to walk behind the massive police line, avoid eye contact with the protesters and ignore their calls of shame.

But Julian Treger is a contrarian by nature, so the London-based mining boss stopped to explain to the angry mob the environmental credentials of his latest investment.
