Rio Tinto’s next chief executive must be capable of mining responsibly in complex and challenging jurisdictions, while keeping a big presence in London, says one of the global miner’s most outspoken shareholders.
Church of England Pensions Board spokesman Adam Matthews praised departing Rio chief executive Jakob Stausholm for his values-based leadership, and said the next Rio chief would need a “sophisticated” attitude towards the role mining can play in society.
