Kakadu uranium miner shopped Jabiluka in funds search

Peter Ker

Kakadu uranium miner Energy Resources of Australia met with suitors about a sale of the controversial Jabiluka uranium deposit in mid-2019, as part of efforts to raise money for rehabilitation of the nearby Ranger uranium mine.

The sale discussions proceeded despite ERA vowing in 2005 to never develop Jabiluka without the support of the traditional owners, the Mirarr people, who consider Jabiluka to be a sacred site.
