Drilling outfit Mitchell Services says extending tougher manslaughter laws to the resources sector in Queensland, where there has been a spike in mining deaths, will benefit the industry.

The move would help sharpen the focus of smaller operators on safety, Mitchell Services chief executive Andrew Elf said.
