Billionaire pays $1.6b for Anglo’s stake in Qld mines

Real estate and resources billionaire Sam Chong will pay $1.6 billion to buy Anglo American’s stakes in two Queensland coal mines, Jellinbah and Lake Vermont, as he doubled down on his investment in the state.
Mr Chong’s private vehicle, Zashvin, has agreed to buy Anglo’s 33 per cent in Jellinbah Group, which owns a 70 per cent stake in the two mines.
