One institutional investor jokes that tracking Australia’s biggest gold miners in the years before the pandemic was like watching Eddie Murphy’s 1988 comedy hit Coming to America.

Not content with outrageous wealth and a harem of willing spouses in his fictional African kingdom, Murphy’s character Prince Akeem travelled to New York in search of true love, even stooping to a job that required him to sift through other people’s garbage.
