Why it’s an unhappy new year at Guardian HQ

London | Ructions at Guardian Australia’s offices have come to light just as tensions escalate at the left-liberal newspaper’s London headquarters, where the sale of the group’s Sunday title, The Observer, has sapped morale and opened a schism between staff and management.

Amid staff turnover and clashes at Guardian Australia, journalists in the UK have reportedly been considering a vote of no-confidence in editor-in-chief Katharine Viner, who previously helmed the Australian edition when it launched back in 2013.
