The AFL Commission and senior media figures expect Gillon McLachlan to remain as the league’s chief executive into next year, as the game grapples with a host of sensitive issues at the end of his eight-year tenure.
Questions about who will succeed Mr McLachlan have dominated conversations around the game recently. The AFL is understood to have formed a long list of about nine candidates.
