Press freedom needs remedy not discussion: Marks and Miller

The heads of Australia's two largest media companies, Nine and News Corp, are pushing the government to fast track legislative changes to improve protections for whistleblowers and stop journalists from being prosecuted for doing their jobs.

The fiercely competitive Australian media has galvanised over the issue of press freedom after raids from the Australian Federal Police on the home of News Corp journalist Annika Smethurst and the headquarters of the ABC in successive days earlier this month.
