Podcasts now make $82.5m in ads - but it could be double

Podcast advertising accounts for nearly 40 per cent of the online audio advertising market, figures released for the first time show.

Data from the peak bodies for the audio industry and online advertising sector show online audio attracted $221.2 million of advertising in 2022, with podcast advertising comprising $82.5 million of that. Music and radio streaming accounted for $138.7 million. The broader commercial radio industry was worth $701 million in the same period.
