‘Irrational and indefensible’ YouTube call was government’s alone

The Albanese government made a captain’s call to exclude YouTube from its controversial social media age ban before the necessary consultation with the agency that will be responsible for the law.

A freedom of information request has revealed Minister for Communications, Michelle Rowland, did not ask eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant for advice on which platforms should be included in the ban.
