Fox settles ‘historic’ defamation case for $1.2b
Wilmington, Delaware | Fox News on Wednesday agreed to pay voting machine maker Dominion $US787.5 million ($1.2 billion) to settle a defamation suit, averting a high-profile trial that would have put one of the world’s best-known media companies in the crosshairs over its coverage of Donald Trump’s false vote-rigging claims in the 2020 US election.
The settlement, which legal experts said was the largest struck by an American media company, was announced by the two sides and the judge in the case at the 11th hour.
