The national auditor will probe the federal government’s $2.2 billion commitment to Victoria’s controversial Suburban Rail Loop, a top public servant has told a parliamentary hearing.
Auditor-General Grant Hehir will examine whether the approval of the Commonwealth funding for the $125 billion project was “informed by appropriate departmental advice” and whether it represents value for money.
