Politicians should avoid the temptation to invest in big nation-building projects as a way to kick-start the economy post-coronavirus, according to an infrastructure expert.

The call comes as NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet has backed road user charging for electric vehicles as a productivity reform to be embraced by states on the road out of the coronavirus pandemic.
