Airport ‘super profits’ back as revenue hits record

Australia’s biggest airports have been accused by airlines of making super profits at the expense of customers after reporting record revenue from flights despite domestic and international traveller numbers remaining below pre-pandemic levels.

Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth airports made a combined $1 billion in operating profit from landing fees, aircraft parking charges and security fees in 2023-24, up 75 per cent on a year earlier, according to the competition watchdog’s annual monitoring report.
