Labor launches federal review of puberty blockers
The Albanese government has launched a review into the treatment of transgender children and adolescents, which will develop new national guidelines for puberty blockers and hormone treatments that are currently controlled by the states.
Health Minister Mark Butler said on Friday that Australia’s peak medical body, the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), would develop new national rules affecting the growing number of young Australians transitioning gender.
