Sometimes, small events shine a light on a much larger issue. So it is with last week’s emergency equity issue by Healius.
It’s a case study of how the conventions of corporate Australia and our equity markets privilege the big end of town, and those with little financial skin in the game, while shareholders are short-changed, especially small ones who don’t have a seat at the table. And it’s a great illustration of the need and opportunity for our world’s best super system to provide long-term debt to our publicly listed industrial companies.
