Former telco executive Ziggy Switkowski has officially taken the keys to the chairman’s office at Crown Resorts after receiving state-based regulatory approvals, as the casino operator weighs a takeover bid from US private equity giant Blackstone.

Dr Switkowski replaces interim chairman Jane Halton, who is the only remaining Crown board member to survive the tumult of the past two years and will remain on as an independent non-executive director.
