Some good news for Star’s long-suffering shareholders: it’s easy to part with money at its new Brisbane complex. One of the 1585 poker machines at Queen’s Wharf Casino has relieved me of $5 in just 72 seconds.

Off the gaming floor, I need to work a little harder to spend my cash. Almost four weeks after the $3.8 billion development opened, none of the promised luxury retail stores are trading yet. Just one restaurant and a coffee cart are operating on the main pedestrian thoroughfare called the Terrace.
