Star Entertainment is pleading for mercy in the face of charges brought by the financial crime watchdog, arguing hundreds of millions in fines for its alleged facilitation of money laundering by VIP patrons could tip it under.
The AUSTRAC case against Star began in the Federal Court on Wednesday morning before it was quickly taken into closed court for the cross-examination of Star chief financial officer Frank Krile.
