Star director concedes he should have asked more questions

Star Entertainment director Ben Heap has conceded before an inquiry that he should have asked more questions when former CEO Matt Bekier played down “problems” in an exclusive gambling salon reserved for high roller junket operator Suncity.

He also agreed it was “seriously bad” for the company’s group compliance manager, Graeme Stevens, to have misled the NSW casino regulator about The Star allowing Suncity to illegally run a payment cage in the junket’s private VIP gambling room, as heard by the inquiry in March.
