Sportsbet blocks website owner’s US bid to dodge court freeze

Sports gambling operator Sportsbet has blocked the owner of the sportsbet.com domain from restarting US legal action, which a judge labelled an attempt to skirt freezing orders in an Australian court.

Sportsbet, which is owned by UK-listed Flutter Entertainment, took little-known company ArcNames to the Supreme Court of Victoria last May after the firm, which owns the URL SportsBet.com, began directing traffic to Sportsbet’s rivals, including Bet365 and PlayUp, according to court documents.
