The appointment of former Australian Football League boss Gillon McLachlan as the chief executive of Tabcorp last week exposes the insidious link between professional sport and gambling.

For people concerned about the damage that problem gambling is inflicting on society, McLachlan’s move leaves no doubt about the inextricable ties between football codes and gaming companies.
