The evidence given by Crown Resorts directors and executives before the NSW casino inquiry has revealed a litany of extraordinary events, remarkable management failures, a bullying culture and an appalling lack of corporate governance.
This was a public company, holding a public asset in gaming licences, essentially being run as a private company at the whim of its largest shareholder, James Packer. Crown paid little or no attention to its core responsibility of ensuring its casinos were free of money laundering and organised crime. This public company treated scrutiny with disdain and displayed indifference to public accountability.
