Westpac CEO wants super on a level playing field

Westpac boss Peter King said policymakers should ensure superannuation and private equity funds comply with the same regulations as banks, including around responsible lending and liquidity, to ensure borrowers receive the same protections.

As the Coalition considers new housing policy that could broaden access to superannuation balances to buy a home, Mr King said the deployment of super savings into housing requires a regulatory rethink.
