A plan for a government-run online superannuation comparison site will not get off the ground until a workable method for comparing fees and costs charged by Australia's mandatory pension system is established.

That is the view of Jonathan Shead who last month took on the newly created role of head of retirements solutions in the Australian arm of State Street, the world's third-largest asset manager, after an earlier career as a consulting actuary to super funds.
