Staying away from ‘sexy’ helps drive returns for Serendipity Capital

Former Commonwealth Bank of Australia chief financial officer Rob Jesudason says knowing where the pain-points exist for big banks and financial institutions has spurred returns for his new private investment company, Serendipity Capital.

Mr Jesudason, who is now Serendipity’s founder and chief executive, said the company prefers to invest in little-known players targeting areas that banks are not investing in themselves or where they are adding people to address problems that can be solved by technology like know-your-customer capabilities, supply chain risks and anti-money laundering.
