Regulators will review a high-profile failure in the ASX’s settlement systems that hindered millions of trades last week, with market participants voicing growing concerns over the stability of the creaking 30-year-old technology.

With engineers working over the weekend to solve the issue with the batch settlement system that emerged on Friday afternoon – and sent some stockbrokers into emergency talks to shore up cash – trading resumed on Monday morning.
