At about 8 o’clock on a warm Brisbane morning in November last year, Tim McNaughton made his way toward the trendy Bellissimo Coffee store in Fortitude Valley.

The 49-year-old Australian Federal Police officer had been on the go since 4.30am, meeting with forensic experts from McGrathNicol, a locksmith, and officials from the corporate regulator before conducting a dusk raid on a vacant Gold Coast apartment. They even searched a Ferrari with “ASX WOLF” plates parked in the basement.
