S&P downgrades Suncorp’s bank amid ‘strategic review’

Rating agency S&P has downgraded its rating and outlook for the Suncorp-Metway bank as support from parent group Suncorp appears to wane amid a strategic review under which it might be sold or spun off.

Suncorp chief executive Steve Johnston did not answer direct questions about the review on Thursday, but said the company could manage insurance and banking services if needed. Paul Harris
