‘No time for complacency’: ASIC chairman keeps heat on ASX

ASIC chairman Joe Longo said regulators cannot be complacent about ASX’s corporate governance challenges, given investors remain in the dark about details of its second attempt to rebuild CHESS, the technology underpinning ownership of Australian shares.

He said intense oversight and supervision of ASX remains critical this year, given the market operator also faces two new laws responding to concerns about a lack of competition and resilience of post-trade services in the equity market.
