ASX-listed health insurer nib Holdings has bought QBE's travel insurance business for $25 million, predicting the consumer business will become a major part of its earnings.

The business, QBE Travel, is the fourth-largest travel insurer in the country, and the acquisition encompasses distribution and claims.
