Lawyers unite to condemn contingency fees

The nation's peak legal body has condemned Victoria's move to allow lawyers to charge contingency fees in class actions, saying it could compromise the profession's "ethical obligations".

Law Council of Australia (LCA) president Pauline Wright told The Australian Financial Review that it would now campaign against legislation that has already passed the state's Legislative Assembly.
