John Sevior, the high-profile stockpicker who quit the funds management industry after a three-decade run, is returning to the sector as chairman of a new advisory board for Ashok Jacob’s Ellerston Capital.

Sevior was a finance reporter at The Age before joining Perpetual, where he worked for 17 years including a decade as its head of equities before starting Airlie Funds Management in 2012. Airlie eventually became part of Magellan Financial, and Sevior announced his retirement in 2023.
