An Australian businessman targeted by an elaborate corporate sting apparently boasted of receiving advance copies of earning results from HSBC Holdings, one of the world's biggest banks.
Scott Macaw, the brother of EL&C Baillieu stockbroking executive Stephen Macaw, told a man he believed represented wealthy Arab investors that he had access to inside information but didn't want to do anything that could cause them embarrassment.
