‘Pie in the sky’: Can ANZ’s Qld pledges be trusted?
Big four bank ANZ this week unveiled a $4.9 billion takeover of Suncorp’s banking arm, but several battles loom to win over customers as well as regulators.
Coming out of a Suncorp branch in a suburban Brisbane shopping centre this week, customer Helen Fox was slightly taken aback by ANZ’s audacious $4.9 billion bid for her long-time bank.
“I’ve banked with them since I was 13!” she told AFR Weekend.
